Nouns can be divided into different types based on what they name.
Common Noun:
A Common Noun is a general name for a person, place, animal, or thing. It does not name any particular one or a specific thing.
Examples:
Person: boy, girl, teacher, city, river (here no specific city, boy or girl)
Place: park, school, country(here no specific park, school & country)
Animal: dog, cat, bird(here no specific dog, cat or birds)
Thing: book, table, flower(here no specific book, table or flower)

Grammar Rule: Common nouns are not capitalized unless they are at the beginning of a sentence.
Proper Noun:
A Proper Noun is a specific name for a particular person, place, animal, or thing.
Examples:
Person: Rohan, Maria, Mr. Sharma (pointing towards a specific person)
Place: Mumbai, Mount Everest, India Gate (pointing towards a specific city, mountain and monuments)
Animal (specific name): My dog's name is Buddy. (Buddy is a proper noun)
Thing (specific name): Coca-Cola, Taj Mahal, Monday

Grammar Rule: Proper nouns always begin with a capital letter.
Abstract Noun:
An Abstract Noun names an idea, feeling, quality, or a state of being that you cannot see, touch, smell, taste, or hear. They are things you can only think about or feel.
Examples:
Feelings: happiness, sadness, love, anger, excitement
Qualities: honesty, courage, beauty, kindness, patience
Ideas: freedom, peace, friendship, knowledge, justice

Collective Noun:
A Collective Noun names a group of people, animals, or things as one single unit.
Examples:
A team of players
A flock of birds
A class of students
A herd of cows
A bunch of grapes
